On Thursday, the PCB said in a statement – Umar will not be able to play any kind of cricket until the investigation is completed. The statement gave no information about the charges against Omar. As of now, there has been no response from Omar on the matter. This is the second time in a month that Omar has been embroiled in controversy. A few days ago, Omar clashed with a trainer during a fitness test in Karachi. He took off the t-shirt and asked the trainer about the amount of fat in his body. He was then forgiven by the PCB.

According to the statement issued by the PCB, Umar is being pursued under the Prevention of Corruption Rule. They will not be able to participate in any cricket related activity until the investigation is complete. ”The PCB is currently investigating the case. However, it may also include the ICC soon. Pakistan Super League i.e. PSL is starting from Thursday only. Omar plays last year's champion team, Quetta Gladiators. According to the PCB, the franchise has been asked to replace Umar with another player. This meant that Akmal would not be able to play PSL this year.
Old age with controversies Omar, 29 years old, has old ties with controversies. He remained in discussion due to wrong antics on and off the field. He had feuds with Shahie Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar and former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur. Last year, he got involved with a traffic policeman. Three years ago in Karachi he was found to be observing Mujra at a cell. He had a heated argument with Mickey Arthur on the field itself. Shoaib Akhtar demanded that he be dropped from the team.
Talented batsman but undisciplined Omar's two brothers Kamran and Adnan have also played for Pakistan. Umar is counted among Pakistan's most talented batsmen. He has played a total of 16 Tests, 121 ODIs and 84 T20 matches so far. He has been out of the Test team for 9 years. Recently he was fed two matches of the T20 series against Sri Lanka. There he was a complete failure. Pakistan T20 team captain Babar Azam is Omar's cousin. Differences between the two families are stated.
