England's team won the World Cup recently in Belis's coaching. Sunrise removed Tom Moody from the post for seven consecutive years. In Moody's coaching the team was made the IPL Champion in 2016. Belice was earlier coach of Kolkata Knight Riders from 2012 to 2015. The team then became a champion twice.

Sunrisers announced their decision to become Belis' coach on their twitter handle. Sunrise wrote, "We have decided to separate with Moody. Bellis has already won two IPL titles with Kolkata. He also won the title of Big Bash League and Champions Trophy with Sydney Sixers. They are the winners. We want to thank Moody for his contributions. In his coaching, the team reached the playoff five times in 7 years.
