India defeated T20 World Champion West Indies 2–1 in 3 match series
Team India batted flawlessly in all three matches, it showed the biggest change
Dainik BhaskarDec 15, 2019, 10:09 AM IST Sports Desk. India defeated the T20 World Champion West Indies 2–1 in a 3-match series. Team India performed well in the series. The World T20 is coming closer and in this sense, this victory was important. The West Indies became world champions in 2016 and the team's performance in 3 years after that did not go as expected. His T20 ranking at present is No. 10, but the team, led by new captain Kieron Pollard, showed a fighting spirit in this series.
Pollard is a good choice for captaincy of the team. He also has a good knowledge of Indian pitches, which is benefitting the team on their tour to India. After taking over the captaincy, he also looks better as a player. Till some time ago, there were circumstances that Pollard's career seemed to be ending due to noises with the management. But this second innings is like a lifeline for him. Also, the challenges are more this time.
Top-3 batsmen showed strength
Now the matter of India's game. The biggest thing is that Team India batted flawlessly in all three matches. It showed a big change. If you look at the names of the top-3 batsmen, you can get an idea of India's batting strength. Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are in tremendous form. But the problem starts after these. Shreyas Iyer has raised a lot of expectations from his game, but his match-winning innings has still not come. Rishabh Pant's game has started raising concerns now. He seems to be struggling constantly at the front and back of the wicket. Pant is still young and undergoing a lot of pressure. There is no doubt about his talent, but when the player is going through a period like this, the role of captain and coach becomes very important. Of course Virat and Ravi Shastri would have talked to him. Team management is continuously replying on Pant.
Bowling is not a concern for India
However, there are not many concerns for India in bowling. The good thing is that India is constantly preparing new all-rounders, who have been proving very important in T20. Ravindra Jadeja is showing the best game. Also in this series, Shivam Dubey has also raised expectations from his game. The team management seems to be trying to create a pool of all-rounders like this before a major tournament like World T20, which is a good thing.
