Afridi said, daughter was copying the Aarti scene in TV
Dainik BhaskarDec 30, 2019, 12:22 PM IST Sports Desk. An old video of former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi is going viral on social media these days, in which he is telling how he broke his home TV because of his daughter watching an Indian TV serial. According to Afridi, at that time his daughter was copying him after watching the scene of 'Aarti' running in the serial, he broke TV after getting angry with this. Indian users are expressing their displeasure over this video and they are calling it a mockery of Hindu customs.
Afridi narrated this anecdote when the host of the show asked him if you have ever broken your home TV in anger? After which Afridi said, 'One time I have broken TV. I broke the TV because of Begum. Earlier, Star Plus plays a lot in our house. I used to refuse them a lot, even though she watches very little TV, I always told her that you should watch all these in private, do not sit for the children. But once I came home, Star Plus was running on TV and my daughter was standing in front of the TV. At that time, there was a scene going on in Indian drama with a plate in hand, and it was going round and round, and my daughter standing in front of the TV was copying it. So I don't know what happened and I broke the TV with my elbow and put it inside the wall. '

Users expressed displeasure
After the video went viral, Shahid Afridi has been heavily criticized on social media. Most Indian users believe the former Pakistani all-rounder in this show made fun of Hindu customs. The special thing is that while Afridi was narrating this anecdote, the host of the show was laughing while the female audience present there praised Afridi's work by hearing applause. Pakistani-origin writer, journalist and social activist Tarek Fateh also criticized Afridi while sharing this video. He wrote, 'Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi admitted to breaking a TV set, showing a scene about a Hindu ritual. A large number of female spectators present applauded Afridi for his 'heroic' work. In Pakistan, hatred towards Hindus is like 'early childhood education'.

Video revealed after Akhtar's revelations
The video comes days after former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar revealed that Akhtar had alleged that former spinner Danish Kaneria was discriminated against in the team for being a Hindu. This was said by Akhtar during the PTV show 'Game on Hai'. In the show, he said that some of the team players did not like to have food with Kaneria. However, Akhtar later clarified that his point was misinterpreted and discriminating religious grounds was never the culture of the Pakistani team.
