Rohit became the highest run-scorer in a calendar year after scoring the 9th run of his innings. Rohit broke the 22-year-old record of former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya in this case. Jayasuriya had scored 2387 runs in 1997 as an opener. Rohit also scored a career-high 43rd fifty in this innings.
