For the first time all the matches of this tournament are proposed to be held in Pakistan. Four cities have been chosen for this. This league was started by the Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB in 2016 against the Indian Premier League. Till now almost all four seasons were played outside Pakistan. The PCB had made it clear long ago that this time the PSL will be organized in the country and for this, players will be signed with bonds.

A total of 6 franchise teams will participate in the PSL 5, with 36 foreign players coming. These are Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Multan Sultan, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi. Among them are 36 foreign players. England opener Jason Roy, South African fast bowler Dale Steyn and West Indies batsman Lendl Simmons are expected to arrive. However, apart from these, no big name will be seen in PSL.
