Shahid is considered a staunch supporter of Imran, he has participated in many rallies of PM on Kashmir issue.
By Dainik BhaskarDec 23, 2019, 02:37 PM IST Islamabad. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has said that Imran Khan should raise the issue of atrocities on Uygar Muslims in China. Afridi made this demand in a tweet. His statement is very important. Actually, the Government of Pakistan talks about the interest of Muslims around the world, but does not say a word about Uygar Muslims of China. Afridi participated in several rallies including the POK with the Prime Minister on the Kashmir issue. This statement of his can make a dire case for Imran.
What did Afridi say in the tweet? Afridi made a tweet on Sunday evening. Said, “Heartbroken by the news of the atrocities on Uygar Muslims. I appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan to speak about this. When we talk of unity among Muslims around the world, it includes our Uygar brothers and sisters living in China. I also appeal to the Chinese Embassy to introduce humanity on this issue and treat the Muslims there appropriately.
Hearing of atrocities committed against the #UighurMuslims is heartbreaking. I request @ImranKhanPTI to speak up against this; talk of uniting the Muslim ummah includes our brothers & sisters in China too. @CathayPak is requested to address the humane & just treatment of Muslims https://t.co/0D6MNZWztV — Shahid Afridi (@SAfridiOfficial) December 22, 2019
There has been international criticism of China on the issue of Uighur Muslims, separate to the Uygar community. According to media reports, separate prisons have been built for the people of this community. Brainwash is being tried. A few days ago there were a lot of allegations and counter-allegations between China and the US. Recently, an organization had identified 209 such jails where Uygar Muslims are housed through Google Earth. Separate labor camps have also been set up for them. A Pentagon officer, Randall Shriver, also recently said that 30 million Uigars have been kept in jails. However, China called these reports baseless.
Why Pakistan silent? Not only Imran, the former governments of Pakistan also kept silent on the issue of Uygar Muslims. The reason for this is that China is currently Pakistan's largest partner. The multi-million dollar projects, including CPEC and defense, are running in Pakistan only through Chinese debt. Imran was on a US tour a few months ago. In a talk show, he was questioned about Uygar Muslims. In response, Imran simply said that he had no information on the issue.
