Nicholas Pooran seen scratching the ball in the footage

The action was taken against him on the charge of ball tampering during the third ODI played with Afghanistan. The match was played in Lucknow on Monday. In the video footage of which he was seen scratching the surface of the ball with a nail.
Puran was accused of violating Rule 2.14 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Which is associated with 'change in the position of the ball'. Puran admitted his mistake and accepted the punishment awarded by match referee Chris Broad. As a result, they will not be able to play the upcoming four International T20 matches. Along with this, 5 negative points were also added to his account.
The four umpires complained
The ICC issued a statement in this regard saying, "Nicholas Pooran has been awarded four suspension points for accepting violations of the third level of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and their support staff." In this case, Puran was charged by the on-field umpires Bismillah Shinwari and Ahmed Durrani, besides third umpire Ahmed Paktin and fourth umpire Izzatullah Safi.
Puran admitted his mistake
Regarding this, Puran said, 'I apologize to my colleagues, supporters and Afghanistan team for whatever happened on the playground in Lucknow on Monday. I believe that I have made a big mistake and I fully accept the punishment given by the ICC. I want to assure everyone, this is a separate incident and will not be repeated. I promise to learn a lesson from it and return with strength and understanding.
