Mashrafe said – didn't think anything about retirement at the moment
Dainik BhaskarJan 14, 2020, 04:19 PM IST Sports Desk. Mashrafe Mortaza, captain of Bangladesh ODI team, withdrew his name from the central contract, after which there was speculation about his retirement. Talking to a leading cricket website about this, Mashrafe said, "Till yesterday I was a centrally contracted cricketer with the cricket board, but not now." In this regard, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman Najmul Hasan said "Mashrafe did not want to continue as a contracted player and we accepted his proposal".
Hasan further said that we also offered to give a big farewell party to Mashrafe, a party which has never happened before and will never happen again. But even for this Mashrafe refused. Mashrafe said about this, 'I have always believed that BCB is the guardian of cricketers and I have never liked it by opposing it. I thank the BCB for considering my name to give me a proper farewell, but I am not much interested in it. '
Haven't thought about retirement yet
Expressing his desire to play further, Mashrafe said, 'I am enjoying whatever I am playing right now. I do not know whether I will retire from the field or not, I have not decided on this yet. He further said, as far as selection in the team is concerned, after taking just one wicket in eight matches, I do not automatically count myself in the team. If the selectors think of giving me a chance in the team, then I will try my best to live up to their expectations.
There will be loss of millions every month
Being out of the central contract list, Mashrafe will no longer get a monthly remuneration of about $ 5,000 (about Rs 3.5 lakh) every month, along with the loss of many sponsorship deals. The star all-rounder welcomed the decision of the BCB to increase the fees for Test matches, saying that this could completely change the scenario of Test cricket in the country. Murtaza has played 36 Tests, 217 ODIs and 54 T20 matches for Bangladesh. In which he has taken 386 wickets in addition to scoring a total of 2960 runs.
