Kuldeep was not selected in the team from the last two T20 series
Kuldeep's performance declines since IPL
Kuldeep took 4/121 wickets against South Africa-A
Dainik BhaskarSep 21, 2019, 07:01 PM IST Sports Desk. Indian leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has said that he is not sad at all for not being part of the team for the T20 series against South Africa. They say they see this as an opportunity and are using it to prepare for the upcoming Test series. Kuldeep was recently in Mysore where he played the second Test (unofficial) against South Africa-A with the India-A team. This was the second consecutive T20 series, for which Kuldeep was not selected. Earlier, he was out of the team in the series against the West Indies.
On not being selected for the last two series, Kuldeep said, "So far I have done well in the limited overs format. I feel very comfortable with the white ball. ' He further said, 'I am not worried at all because of not being selected in the last two T20 series. The selectors may have felt that I needed a break. The team may find some changes are necessary. I respect it and I have no complaints. I see it as an opportunity to do well in Test matches.
Match played with India-A in Mysore
Kuldeep was currently in Mysore where he played a Test (unofficial) match against South Africa-A with the India-A team from September 17-21. In this match, India-A got the opportunity to bowl in only one inning, in which Kuldeep took 4 wickets for 121 runs. Regarding this match, Yadav said, "If you are not playing red ball cricket continuously, then it becomes difficult for you to be selected."
Preparation required for the test
Kuldeep said, "If you are not regular in the test format then you take time to get into the rhythm. When you are playing limited overs cricket continuously and then suddenly start playing Test cricket without full preparation then it becomes very difficult. For this, you will have to bowl for a long time, to understand field positions and how to take wickets, you will have to play practice matches continuously. It was very important for me that I come here (Mysore) and bowl for as long as possible. A lot of work still remains to be done. He further said, "When three spinners like Ashwin, Jadeja and me are in the team, it becomes very challenging to make the right combination." You always have to be ready to grab your chance. Of course there is a lot of pressure, because you only get a few chances and you have to prove yourself by using them to the fullest.
Performance decline after IPL
Kuldeep Yadav's performance has been steadily declining since IPL 2019. He was able to take just 4 wickets in the nine matches of the tournament, his economy was 8.66 runs per over. Although Kuldeep is out of the Indian team from the last two T20 series (Windies and South Africa), but still he remains in the list of top ten bowlers of this format.
Kuldeep has played 6 Tests, 53 ODIs and 18 T20 matches so far in his international career. In which he has taken 24 wickets in Tests, 96 in ODIs and 35 wickets in T20s.
