Due to the Lok Sabha elections, dates of the first 17 matches were announced today

new Delhi. The governing body of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Tuesday released the first two weeks of the 12th edition of the tournament. The tournament will commence on March 23 in Chennai between the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Chennai SuperKings is the defending champion. 17 matches will be played in the first two weeks of the tournament. Chennai Super Kings' command is in the hands of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, while Virat Kohli will lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Eight teams are participating in this 12th edition of the tournament. These teams are: Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai SuperKings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab
During the first two weeks, every team will play at least four matches, while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore will play 5-5 matches.
Every team has to play at least two matches on the home ground and two competing rival teams.
The governing body of the IPL will release the schedule after the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.
However, the governing body of the IPL has also said that the changes in the dates of the tournament are possible because the country will have to hold Lok Sabha elections this year. The IPL wrote on its website, "Once the dates of Lok Sabha elections are announced, if we have to make some changes in the first two weeks of the program, then we will give information only to them. Apart from this, the local officials will prepare programs for the rest of the session which will be held around the dates of voting.
