Ajinkya Rahane joined Rajasthan Royals in 2011, Trent Bolt playing in Delhi and Ankit Rajput Punjab team
IPL transfer window will close on 14 November
Dainik BhaskarNov 14, 2019, 12:28 PM IST Sports Desk. Ajinkya Rahane, vice-captain of the Indian Test team, is joining the Delhi Capitals franchise, leaving his current team Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. The transfer process between the two teams will be completed before the transfer window closes on Thursday. In their place, Rajasthan team will get two players of Delhi Capitals. Apart from this, after two other transfer deals for the next season, Trent Bolt will now play Mumbai Indians and Ankit Rajput will play Rajasthan. After the transfer window closes on Thursday, no player will be able to transfer between the franchises.
Rahane was associated with Rajasthan team since 2011. He was retained for Rs 4 crore. The Delhi team had been in talks with the Rajasthan team to take on Rahane for the past several months. His acquisition was first talked about when Sourav Ganguly was an advisor to Delhi Capitals. This deal was done by Delhi only on the basis of their choice. Ganguly feels that Rahane is a player of all formats. According to reports, Rahane also wanted to change the team. After eight matches in this season of the IPL, he was removed and handed the captaincy to Steve Smith. He was not happy about this.
Will work with Ponting and Amre
After Rahane's arrival, the batting order of Delhi team will become even stronger. In the top order of the team where there are players like Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, the middle order has players like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihari. Rahane will work in the Delhi Capitals team along with head coach Ricky Ponting and personal coach Praveen Amre.
Rahane's record better in IPL
Rahane's record in IPL is much better than international T20 career. In 140 matches of this tournament, he has scored 3820 runs at an average of around 33. While T20 International has scored 375 runs in 20 matches at an average of 21.
Bolt and Ankit Rajput teams also change
New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult will be seen playing for the Mumbai Indians in place of Delhi Capitals next year, while domestic fast bowler Ankit Rajput will play the Rajasthan Royals in place of the Kings XI Punjab team. Information was given about this by issuing a statement from the IPL. Bolt made his IPL debut in 2014. He was playing for the Delhi team for the last two seasons. He has taken a total of 38 wickets in 33 matches of the tournament. While Ankit joined the Punjab team in the year 2018, he has taken 22 wickets in 23 IPL matches. He is the only uncapped player in the list of bowlers who have taken 5 wickets in a tournament match.
