Kidambi beat China's Huang Yujiang 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 in the semi-finals

new Delhi. Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth won the Men's Singles Silver Medal in the India Open Badminton Tournament on Sunday. In the final played at KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, they lost to Victor Axelsen of Denmark. Victor won 21-7, 22-20 against him.
After the match, the record of victory and defeat between Kidambi and Victor was 3-5. Kidambi defeated Victor 14-21, 22-20, 21-7 in the final of the Denmark Open on October 20, 2017. Since then, there have been two matches between the two till now. The Indian shuttle had to face defeat in both of them.
Kidambi won no title for 17 months
Srikanth was the only Indian to reach the final of any event of this tournament. World number 7 Kidambi, in the Men's Singles, defeated China's Huang Yuziang 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 in the semi-finals. Kidambi has not won any international tournament since October 2017.
Thailand's Ranchanok Imran won the record for the third time
Excelson won the title of India Open for the second time. Excelson had earlier won the title of this tournament in 2017 as well. Thailand's Ranchanok Imantoon won the title for the third time in the women's singles event. No player was able to do this before. Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has won the title twice.
