Forbes valued his total earnings at Rs 252.72 crore between 1 October 2019 and 30 September 2019. This is the first time in the history of this list in the history of the last eight years when a sportsperson has been at the top here. Before this, only Bollywood stars dominated here. Salman Khan had topped the last three times, he is at number three this time. In the list, Virat was at number two last year while in the year 2017, number three.

Forbes India has revealed match fees, BCCI's annual contract, brand endorsement and sponsored Instagram posts as the main sources of Kohli's earnings. In this list of Forbes, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar was second with earnings of Rs 293.25 crore. The special thing is that his annual earnings were told more than Virat, but still he was placed second. The reason for this was the process which Forbes adopted to make the list.

Rankings based on estimated revenue and social media reach

According to Forbes, 'Celebrity rank has been calculated based on their estimated income and average of their popularity found through print and social media reach. In such a situation, some celebrities whose earnings are low and popularity is very high, they are ranked above celebrities with high earning but very less popularity. Salman Khan, who topped the list since the year 2016, is at number three this time. His earnings have been stated as Rs 229.25 crores.

Dhoni was fifth and Sachin finished ninth

Former Indian team captain MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar also managed to make it to the top-10 in the list. MS Dhoni was placed at the fifth position with earnings of Rs 135.93 crore, while Sachin was at the ninth position with an income of 76.96 crore. According to Forbes, even after retiring in the year 2013, Sachin manages to get a place in the top-10 every year. Rohit Sharma gained 23 places this year as compared to last year and reached the 11th position. Other cricketers included in the list are Rishabh Pant (30th), Hardik Pandya (31st), Jaspreet Bumrah (33rd), Lokesh Rahul (34th), Shikhar Dhawan (35th), Ravindra Jadeja (51st) and Kuldeep Yadav (61st).

Players from other sports also found a place

Mithali Raj (88th), Smriti Mandhana (90th) and Harmanpreet Kaur (91st) from the women's cricket team also managed to make it to the Celebrity 100 list. Other games include star shuttlers PV Sindhu (63rd) and Saina Nehwal (81st), footballer Sunil Kshetri (85th), boxer MC Mary Kom (87th), golfer Anirban Lahiri (95th), wrestler Bajrang Punia (94th) and tennis player Rohan Bopanna ( 98th) also managed to get a place in this list.
