Carlos defeated defending champion Nasser Al Atiyah for the first time in this off-road endurance race in Saudi Arabia. In the car category, 57-year-old Carlos finished the race 6 minutes 21 seconds ahead of Nasser in Qatar. France's Stefan Paterhansel finished third. Former two-time Formula-1 World Champion Fernando Alonso finished at number 13.
Carlos of the Bahrain JCW X-Red Team won 4 of the 11 stage races. He also became champion here in 2010 and 2018. Carlos finished 11th in 167 km and sixth in the final stage, but became overall champion. He finished the entire race in a total of 42 hours 59 minutes 17 seconds.
