Chennai. The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League T20 tournament will be started at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Saturday. The first match will be played sometime between Chennai SuperKings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). For the first time in the IPL, both the teams are face-to-face in the inaugural match. This is the first time that the tournament is being held before the ODI World Cup. The final of the IPL-12 from March 23 will be on May 12, whereas against the World Cup it is to be held in England from July 30 to 14. This time the tournament will not be open. Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) has done this to pay homage to the soldiers who were killed in the Pulwama attack.

In the 11 edition of the IPL, there have been 23 alliances between CSK and RCB. Of these, Chennai-led Chennai have managed to win 15 matches. At the same time, Virat Kohli-led RCB won 7 matches only. The result of a match did not come out.
