India vs India 2-1 ahead of ODI series against Australia
The fourth ODI of the series will be played in Mohali on Sunday.
The performance of our batsmen in the first three games against Australia is much lower than expected. Except Virat Kohli, no batsman of top order has been able to perform well. Because of this, the performance of top order batters has been questioned. There is less than three months left in the World Cup. The team has only two ODIs and play. This performance has put the team management and selectors in worry.
Despite being ahead in the series, Indian issues are struggling
We lost the T-20 series because our batsmen failed. Even though we are ahead in the ODI series 2-1 but the top ranked batsmen are still struggling. T-20 is a small format and players have difficulty in getting the form, but in the ODIs the batsman can move the innings accordingly. However, this does not seem to be happening.
Warner-Smith's absence does not take advantage of Team India
Both the format of the game are different and for both the players are not considered to be chosen on the same criteria. The Indian team plays with almost the same top order in both formats. Due to this the problem has increased. In the absence of David Warner and Steve Smith, Team India was expected to dominate the Australian team. So far it has not happened.
Australia's overall performance is fantastic
On the other hand, Australian has performed well in all departments. The Indian team could not do the same. Our bowling was good, but the batsmen did not perform well. Kohli has scored two centuries It's also fantastic, because our batsmen are struggling in front of these Australian bowlers in this condition.
Dhawan-Rohit is out of form
Our batting looks very strong on paper. The opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma is one of the best in the world. These pairs are out of form. Ambati Rayudu, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik are also not consistently doing well. This is a good opportunity for Rishabh Pant, Lokesh Rahul. Until a few months ago, batting of Team India could not be questioned. Now some alarm bells have started.
Spinners lose my consistency of batsmen
In the past few years, the fast and spin bowlers' contribution has been important in our victory. It hid the lack of consistency of our batsmen. Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuswendra Chahal have performed with the ball. After this, the top order will have to run. So far, our bowlers have done well in three matches of the series. In the remaining two games of the series, the batsmen have to prove their form in the last series before the World Cup by getting their form.
