Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) has imposed a life ban on under-23 cricketer Anuj Deeda and his brother Rajesh in the case of attacking former India fast bowler Amit Bhandari. DDCA president Rajat Sharma said that the investigators have started investigating complaints about the selection of some players on selectors. Apart from this, it has been decided to impose a life ban on Anuj Deeda and Rajesh.
Anuj Deheda is in police custody now
Anuj Deeda was assaulted by the DDCA's selection committee chairman if the selection was not made in the U-23 team of the state. Bhandari was attacked on St Stephen's ground during the under-23 trials on Monday, when he was watching the practice match of Delhi's senior team preparing for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Anuj Deeda and his colleagues attacked Amit Bhandari with iron rod and hockey stick. Amit had injuries in the head and body of many parts. He was taken to a hospital, where he was discharged after treatment. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police arrested Deeda. They are in police custody now.
