Pakistan was first handed the hosting of the Asia Cup in September
The BCCI had made it clear that Team India will not go to Pakistan under any circumstances.

According to him, both India and Pakistan will participate in the tournament to be held in Dubai. The tournament was earlier handed over to Pakistan. After India's objection, it has now been shifted to Dubai. Ganguly gave this information before leaving for Dubai on Friday evening. There he will attend the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council.
The BCCI had said – Our team will not go to Pakistan. Pakistan was handed the hosting of the Asia Cup last year. About a month ago, the BCCI made it clear that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan in view of the strained relations between the two countries. Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Khan also indicated that the Asia Cup could be held on the neutral venue. Dubai was then given the hosting.
The cricket series of both the countries which had not been held for 7 years, the last series between India and Pakistan was held in 2012-13. Then Pakistan team came to India to play three ODIs. The Indian team last visited Pakistan in 2007-08. Both teams have been face to face in ICC tournaments. There was pressure on the Pakistan Cricket Board to agree on a neutral venue to host the Asia Cup.
India won the Asia Cup seven times in 1984 The first Asia Cup was played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament takes place every 2 years. The 2018 Asia Cup was also played in the UAE. Team India has so far won 7, Sri Lanka 5 and Pakistan 2 times. Bangladesh team is yet to win this trophy.
