Guwahati. PV Sindhu and Yuva Star Target Sen, top-seeded champion and two-time champion, performed brilliantly at the 83rd Senior National Badminton Championship, winning two matches on one day and making it to the semi-finals of their respective singles category.

Silver and World Championship silver medalist Sindhu entered the quarter-finals by defeating Malvika Bansod of Nagpur 21-11, 21-13 in the pre-quarter-finals. Then beat Riya Mukherjee 21-16, 21-7 in the quarter-finals. Sindhu will face Ashmita Chalih in the semi-finals. Ashmita defeated Kashyap 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 in the quarter-finals. Sindhu was runners-up in this championship last year.

Former winner Saurabh Verma beat Kartik Jindal 21-8, 21-15 in 18 minutes to make it to the quarter-finals. Where he will face second seed B Sai Praneet. Praneeth beat Rohit Yadav 21-10, 21-10.

In the women's second seed and defending champion Saina Nehwal defeated Shruti Mundada 21-11, 21-10. Saina will face Neha Pandit in the quarterfinals. Third seed Shreyasi Pardesi had to face defeat at the hands of Vaishnavi Bhal in the quarter-finals. Vaishnavi won the match 19-21, 22-20, 21-11. Second seeded Mira Doubles Chirag Shetty and Pranav Jerry Chopra beat V Diju and Rupesh Kumar Katie 21-8, 18-21, 22-20 in the semi-finals.
